Block Printing
on Textile

BRING YOUR OWN FABRIC!

During this workshop you will design your own printing block and use it to print on a garment like a t-shirt, or a piece of fabric that you can then use to sew something else!

You'll be taught how to make a design for block printing and how to transfer it onto a block. You'll also learn how to cut your design out of a block, prepare your ink using specialist tools to use for printing- finalising by printing your artwork on your fabric or item.


Ruffle Tote Bag

In this workshop you will learn to sew a cute summery ruffle tote bag. The bag features topstitched shoulder straps, curved edges, ruffle trim and if fully lined. Practice sewing curves, gathering fabric and creating even ruffles, inserting a lining and topstitching.

We will provide you with detailed step-by-step instructions, so the workshop is suitable for beginners, as well as more experienced sewists looking for a fun sewalong.


Wide-brimmed Bucket Hat

In this workshop you will learn to sew a trendy lined bucket hat. The hat features a downward sloping brim with optional top stitching. This hat is fully lined and can even be made reversible!

You will be provided with a pattern, list of materials and equipment with detailed instructions that will walk you through all the steps to create a great-looking hat. Practice sewing neat curves, topstitching and inserting a lining.

With a lot of curves to be sewn, TNSS recommends already being
confident with the sewing machine before taking this class


Draping Basics

Learn the basics of draping on the stand, creating garments from scratch using fabric and the mannequin! You'll complete a body of work from draping a bodice block muslin on the stand, fabric manipulation on the stand with pleats and gathers, and then learning and drafting the paper pattern.

In this draping workshop, you'll begin to analyse the relationship of fabric on the body with this traditional method of dressmaking practiced by fashion designers, haute couturiers and tailors alike.

PAST WORKSHOPS

DRAPING WORKSHOP

In this workshop, you have the choice between creating beautifully fitted garments of your own design, draping a tailored jacket, as well as practising draping techniques used by the early 20th century French couturier, Madame Grès and the 'Master of Haute Couture', Cristóbal Balenciaga.


This workshop has a 2-lesson minimum. The introductory lesson is essential for all to grasp the basics. You are then free to choose from:

- Studying Madame Grès
- Studying Cristóbal Balenciaga 
- Own design draping
